What to Do When You Are Stressed About Money

Have you received this advice before as it relates to money … Don’t worry about it”? Chances are, you probably have not found this very helpful.

When it comes to areas related to our finances, it seems almost impossible not to worry. With ever escalating inflation, and sky-rocketing prices, unexpected or “extra” bills can almost feel unbearable! You may have thought to yourself before, “How am I supposed to pay this?

When you are exhausted, overworked, and overstressed every point of external pressure (especially financial ones) can be very anxiety inducing. But God doesn’t want us to worry because He has already promised to provide us help!

Jesus said in Matthew 6:25, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?

Why? – Well that answer can be found in the previous verse, 24 You cannot serve both God and money.”

If we look a little deeper into that same chapter of scripture, Jesus tells us in Verse 8 that God knows our needs even before we ask!

Think about that for a sec: God knows all about our bills, our needs, wants, and wishes. He knows that we need food, put gas in our tanks, pay for that tuition/camp for our children, and even that we would like to go on a nice Summer trip to get a break.

And yet in a sea of swarming bills, He has promised to provide! (Phil. 4:19)

Now think about this – Not only does God want to satisfy our physical, everyday needs, but He wants us to come to Him for even deeper longings of peace, hope, security, and joy.

If today you feel anxiousness about your finances, spend some time pondering these words:

9 For God chose to save us through our Lord Jesus Christ, not to pour out his anger on us. 10 Christ died for us so that, whether we are dead or alive when he returns, we can live with him forever. 11 So, encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.
